After reading these stories, I'm ready for a resurgence of the Outerverse。 The Hexencorps are badass cannibal witches straight off the cover of a heavy metal album。 I really like them as the big bad during the WWII era because they are freaky。 They even went so far as to align themselves with the Nazis。 Plus, you also have Swedish trolls and immortal teenage witch hunters introduced。 Currently I'm digging the Outerverse more than the main Mignolaverse。 After reading these stories, I'm ready for a resurgence of the Outerverse。 The Hexencorps are badass cannibal witches straight off the cover of a heavy metal album。 I really like them as the big bad during the WWII era because they are freaky。 They even went so far as to align themselves with the Nazis。 Plus, you also have Swedish trolls and immortal teenage witch hunters introduced。 Currently I'm digging the Outerverse more than the main Mignolaverse。 。。。more

Contains three short(ish) stories from the Mignolaverse (I refuse to call it the Outerverse), one of which I liked, the other two are。。 okay。The one I liked takes place during WWII, and regards an attack of witches who have alligned themselves with the Nazis, grouped under the name of the Hexenkorps。 There are good witches trying to defend their city, there are summoned flesheating witches, and then finally Cojacaru the Skinner is resurrected - a young girl with a thirsty blade that should have Contains three short(ish) stories from the Mignolaverse (I refuse to call it the Outerverse), one of which I liked, the other two are。。 okay。The one I liked takes place during WWII, and regards an attack of witches who have alligned themselves with the Nazis, grouped under the name of the Hexenkorps。 There are good witches trying to defend their city, there are summoned flesheating witches, and then finally Cojacaru the Skinner is resurrected - a young girl with a thirsty blade that should have metal songs written about her。The other two stories are about trolls, and about a golem。 The troll story is very short, and feels uninspired。 The golem story takes on an operatic grandeur, but never really gets off the ground。The art, by Peter Bergting of Joe Golem fame, is solid and at times inspired。One for the completists, I would say - but then these spin off series are all for the completists, aren't they?(Thanks to Dark Horse Books for providing me with an ARC through Edelweiss) 。。。more
